Williamson County Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the completion of the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, located at 112 Everbright Avenue, nestled in the heart of Franklin, Tennessee. The center has been constructed on the old Battle Ground Academy (BGA) campus, also known as Academy Park Campus, a Franklin landmark institution founded in 1889. The old Coverdale Hall building, constructed in 1905, has been renovated as a center for the arts. The building has been brought to life as a theatre, performing arts venue and art gallery. The Performing Arts Center houses an almost 300-seat state-of-the-art theatre space for dramatic productions, musical performances, camps and workshops. The theatre is available for rental to the public for meetings, events and theatrical productions and is managed by the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department. Commemorative bricks, from the old Fleming Hall building, have been installed as internal focal points within the center and will celebrate the history of the site while embracing the future community space the project will provide for years to come. Local citizens and their families can participate in the history of the Academy Park Campus with their purchase of a personalized, commemorative brick. This landmark site is now a thriving campus consisting of Williamson County Public Library, Academy Park Gymnasium, Renaissance High School, Enrichment Center and Performing Arts Center.
The mission of the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park is to provide quality entertainment through dramatic productions, musicals, concert performances, festivals and workshops. Academy Park is designed to showcase local talent, to engage the culture of the downtown Franklin area and to serve the residents of Williamson County. It is a unique venue for artistic expression to enrich, educate and entertain our community by providing excellent theatre experiences.
