Our summer production for the Rising Stars this year is Disney’s Aladdin JR. which is based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. Please join us in enjoying the talents of these young performers, ages 5 through 8th grade.

*This play will include our second offering of a sensory-friendly play, with our Saturday 3pm performance of Aladdin, Jr. This performance is designed to create a more comfortable experience for those with sensitivity to sensory input and their families. Please feel free to bring comforting objects and noise-reducing headphones. We will also have a sign language interpreter.

Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com.

Geppetto fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy. Even as the lonely and kind woodcarver worked far into the night, old Geppetto was not aware that the wood under the chisel had come from the trunk of an enchanted tree. But the Blue Fairy was aware, as she watched from afar and gave to that puppet the gift of life. Thus begins the Missoula Children's Theatre adaptation of one of the most beloved of all children’s stories–PINOCCHIO. Join our wooden-head as he dances with Geppetto’s charming toys, travels the road to Pleasure Isle with Candlewick and his Crew, and is swindled by the unsavory Fox and Cat. After escaping the clutches of the evil puppet master, Stromboli, Pinocchio finds himself in trouble once more–this time swallowed by a monstrous whale. Very scary stuff! As Geppetto and the friendly Urchins spin their magical tale, we learn with Pinocchio that there are no shortcuts on the road to becoming a real, live boy.

Join us for a whirlwind week of theatre camp when the Missoula Children's Theatre comes to town in their red truck with their own unique spin on the Peter Pan story. The week will include rehearsals, theatre workshops, crafts, and related activities. All participants should bring a sack lunch and snack daily.

When Captain Hook sends his right-hand man Smee on a quest to capture Peter Pan, it’s seemingly business as usual…at first. Little does Hook realize what fantastic adventures await him and his pirate posse in their search for the elusive Peter Pan. Mistaken identities, ever-morphing clouds, a classy crocodile, some very lost boys, and a fickle shadow all add to the mayhem. Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Darling embark on a quest of their own and find themselves trekking everywhere from Hawaii to the North Pole in search of their three missing children. With help from the earth-friendly Neverlanders, exotic Neverland creatures, and faithful Tinker Bell, the Darling children are found, disputes are ultimately resolved, and everyone – including Captain Hook – finds a place where they truly belong.

Their confidence will soar as they receive training in acting, singing, and dancing, (with an emphasis on pop and hip hop).  This program is designed with our more experienced performers in mind. It is recommended that students have some stage experience with dance, singing and/or acting.

Their “Greatest Show" will celebrate differences, make the impossible come true, and show the world, THIS IS ME!  Kids will have a blast learning music and choreography that is contemporary and cool during the hot summer days. Older students in this session will have the opportunity to assist their teaching artists with choreography and staging.

Kids in this one-week program get to sing, dance, act, and create! Every child gets their own chance to shine! This camp is the perfect introduction to performance. Our action packed, fun filled week consists of theatre games (and lots of ‘em), all while preparing a mini-musical production that will showcase singing, dancing, and acting for family and friends at the end of the week. These classes are an excellent place for beginners to get their feet wet. No experience is necessary. There will be a voluntary audition on the first day to determine solos and speaking parts.

Students will perform an original musical revue featuring songs from classic Broadway shows and movie musicals like Annie, Oliver, & Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music to the latest hits like Wicked, School Of Rock, Disney on Broadway, Newsies, Matilda, and more. Our professional teaching artists create a fun and inclusive community where all students feel supported and confident. On the last day, kids will perform their original show for friends and family!
